How to figure out your BMI

BMI or Body Mass Index is a measurement used to assess obesity. To figure out your BMI, you need two parameters; your body weight and your height.

Estimate your Body Mass Index at home using weight and height.

Measure your height in meters as accurate as possible. For example; If your height is 182cm, that is 1.82m. You should remove your shoes before measuring your height.

Measure your weight in kg. You can use a bathroom scale for taking your body weight. Weigh yourself with minimum cloths.

Here is the formula to calculate your Body Mass Index.

                 Weight
BMI =   -----------------
              Height X Height

Assume that your weight is 92kg and your height is 2m.

                                92
Then your BMI is  ---------
                              2 X 2

= 23

You can use an electronic calculator to work out this formula. Most of the mobile phones have calculator function.

Otherwise you can use online BMI calculator. It is easy. What you need to do is; just enter your height and weight in the appropriate fields and click calculate button. It will show your BMI.
